Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha

It was snowing again today.

What better way to spend a snow day than doing some exercises to help me correct my anterior pelvic tilt?

Um yeah… after doing a round of those (you would be surprise how you can really feel it in your muscles afterwards!), I decided to make a hot drink and curl up with that while going through my backlog of NY Mags.

I made a Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha using Milo instead of coffee. This is inspired by my bae Janelle and her love for raspberries and white chocolate. I am also finally using the Milo from one of her care packages to me from forever ago. I’ll make you this when you’re in NY again and we finally get to reunite, bitch!

Raspberry syrup:

  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Simply wash the raspberries then boil them in water for 10 – 15 minutes. Strain them to get just the liquid. Add the sugar and boil again and let it simmer until it thickens to a syrup consistency. Let cool and you can keep this for up to about a week in the fridge.

I was  a bit impatient with the syrup so it didn’t really come out to the consistency I would have liked but it tasted great; the right amount of sweetness with the slightest tartness.

White Chocolate Mocha with Milo:

  • 1 tablespoon White Chocolate (it would probably be better to use baking chocolate instead of chips as it melts better but I only had the chips on hand)
  • 1 tablespoon Milo
  • 1 cup steamed milk
  • Whipped Cream

Add the white chocolate chips (I microwaved the chips to get it a bit melty before placing it in the cup) and a tablespoon of the raspberry syrup. Add in the Milo with the steamed milk. Top off with a generous coat of whipped cream and drizzle more of the raspberry syrup on top. Add fresh raspberries if you’re so inclined.

My photography skills or lack of does not do the drink justice. Taste better than it looks.

I have never had raspberry syrup in any of my drinks. It’s an interesting addition. I like having the fruity sweet aftertaste. And using the Milo makes it seem like I’m indulging in a hot chocolate.

This definitely warmed me right up.

What hot drink do you like to enjoy on a cold, snowy day? Please let me know in the comments.
