“Buy a bar. Feed a Child. We Eat Together”
This is This Bar Saves Lives‘ motto.
The concept is pretty simple but very monumental. For every TBSL bar that is purchased, the company gives a life-saving, nutritional packet called Plumpy’nut to a child in need of it most. This is important as severe acute malnutrition claims the lives of millions of children every year. Last month, they reached an amazing milestone: one million packets of Plumpy’nut donated and about 8,000+ lives saved!
The bars basically cover everything you might want/need (& don’t want); it’s gluten-free, dairy free, no preservatives, non-GMOs, and kosher. They are also fair-trade.
They taste incredible too! My favorite flavor is the Madagascar Vanilla Almond & Honey. It tastes like a fancy rice krispie treat or something, especially if you let it warm up a little (leave it sitting out on a sunny surface for a bit).
They also have a kids line called “This Kid Saves Lives” (nut-free bars) which is good to pack as a snack in your children’s lunch and provides a great way to start a conversation with kids about sharing and helping people.
The bars are available on their website, Target, and Starbucks (mostly at California locations right now but expanding nationally).
Of course there are many other ways you can help out with this malnutrition issue but this is a small everyday act you can do that can add up to big changes.
I usually have some type of bar or granola on hand for snacking and I know many people who do too. So why not get it from a source that also provide help to others? I have already convince the office ladies to get some for our daily afternoon snacks during busy season.
Everyone should have access to food, especially children who need sufficient nutrients during their growing years.
Let’s eat together guys!
Enjoy the mew life,
Note: I am in no way affiliated with TBSL (except for being a huge fan of the company and its cofounders!) Thus, this is not an ad or anything of that nature. The opinions expressed on my blog are 100% my own.
